Morgan Boyes posts emotional message after making Liverpool debut

A young Liverpool side was dumped out of the Carabao Cup by Aston Villa last night. The Reds were beaten 5-0 by Dean Smith’s team, who fielded a strong side.

With Jurgen Klopp and the first team preparing for the Club World Championships in Qatar, Neil Critchley was tasked with overseeing the domestic cup game.

Eight players made their debuts on the night and despite the heavy defeat, it proved a decent runout for the youngsters.

One man making his debut was centre-back, Morgan Boyes.

The 18-year-old has been a regular for the under-23 team this season and looks like being one for the future.

Boyes did net an own goal on the night but on the whole, he looked assured.

The youngster will undoubtedly learn from the experience and after the game, he took to Twitter to speak of his pride at making his debut for the club:

Boyes will learn from the experience of coming up against a strong Villa outfit.

For now, it will be a case of returning to the under-23 ranks and putting into practice what the Villa Park experience taught him.

It probably won’t be the last Liverpool supporters see of Boyes though.

At 18 there is a lot of scope for development and his career could is yet to really take off.

The academy at Anfield is one of the best in the country and Boyes will surely hope that he can make the grade at the football club.
