TBR Football understands Liverpool are monitoring Harvey Elliott, with the stance on his Aston Villa future clear.
Owen Hargreaves backed Elliott to become as good as Martin Odegaard following his Liverpool exit.
So far, the Liverpool loanee has earned 97 minutes of playing time in the Premier League at Aston Villa, with his longest outing a 45-minute appearance versus Fulham.
There has been much talk in the last week or so about Villa’s obligation to buy Elliott and even a potential return to Liverpool.

Sources: Liverpool expect Harvey Elliott to become Aston Villa player
Now, TBR Football has spoken to our chief correspondent, Graeme Bailey, about the Englishman’s situation.
At present, it’s thought Liverpool are monitoring Elliott, but they believe he will become an Aston Villa player.
Bailey also mentioned the Premier League holders inserting a buy-back clause in the deal for Elliott.
He said: “Villa are insisting Elliott is part of their plans, but it is clear things are not going well.
“He did join with an obligation built in, but in theory, that could possibly see him return. We may not have seen the last of Elliott at Anfield as they also have a buy-back, and Liverpool put that in as they rate him so highly.
“But as it stands, Liverpool firmly believe that he becomes an Aston Villa player and he will be a success for them. But it is fair to say they are monitoring the situation.”

What Unai Emery has said about Harvey Elliott
Elliott was left out of the matchday squad when Villa beat Manchester City last weekend, with Unai Emery explaining his decision.
He said: “In the squad today we needed to take one player out, and I decided for him. I am happy with him.
“He is training good. His commitment is fantastic and he is a good guy. Only tactical decision.
“I spoke with him about it. My advice was to keep going, and training and when it is his opportunity, to play well.
“He is a very good player. Our demands are in the high level. Some players, they performed in the same position last year and this year. He needs time to work and wait for his moment.”
Villa face Liverpool on Saturday and there are doubts over the fitness of Emi Buendia.
Emery is expected to provide an update on the Argentine in his press conference on Friday.
