Liverpool ‘might’ try to sign another Newcastle player after Alexander Isak approach

Liverpool have had a remarkable summer transfer window so far.

The Reds have signed Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong already, while Hugo Ekitike is set to sign soon too.

Meanwhile, Alexander Isak has been linked to Liverpool, and the Reds aren’t quite giving up on that deal yet.

However, a move for Isak isn’t going to be easy, Newcastle don’t want to sell their star man, and Liverpool are now set to bring in a new striker in the shape of Ekitike.

Speaking on the Born n Red YouTube channel, Ben Jacobs has been discussing Liverpool’s interest in Isak, and he says that the Merseyside club may actually go for another Newcastle player if this deal falls through.

Liverpool could go for Anthony Gordon

Jacobs spoke about Liverpool’s potential next moves.

The journalist noted that Liverpool still have a long-standing interest in Anthony Gordon and they may pivot towards Gordon if they indeed can’t get Isak.

“Anthony Gordon is the one they almost got done one year ago, so there is long-standing interest there. There might be a scenario where they can’t get Isak and then they pivot to Anthony Gordon, but this isn’t a today or tomorrow type of story,” Jacobs said.

Anthony Gordon compared to Luis Diaz

Gordon to Liverpool is a move that could make a lot of sense, especially if Luis Diaz leaves Anfield.

Diaz has been linked with a move away from Liverpool this summer as the likes of Bayern Munich and Barcelona circle.

Gordon would be a solid replacement for Diaz, but he would need to improve in certain areas if he’s going to fill his boots.

Diaz is much more prolific than Gordon in terms of goalscoring. However, at the age of just 24, Gordon has plenty of room to grow and improve.

Whether or not Liverpool actually make a move for Gordon remains to be seen, as a few dominoes may have to fall before this move is made.

This remains one to keep an eye on as the summer window progresses.
