Liverpool midfielder Tyler Morton has raved about Leicester star James Maddison
Liverpool star Tyler Morton has told the club’s official website that Leicester City star James Maddison has been his toughest opponent so far. The two did battle during Liverpool’s Carabao Cup win over the Foxes.
Morton, 19, has now clocked up seven first-team appearances for the Reds – impressing plenty at the base of the midfield under Jurgen Klopp. Indeed, he has certainly shown he can be an option for the Reds long-term.
The Reds have numerous options in midfield. Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and James Milner can all play in Morton’s position. But Milner is out of contract at the end of the season, and Morton could be his replacement.
Maddison has been on fire of late, meanwhile. The England international scored and created another in the defeat to Liverpool, in which he faced Morton. Speaking on Liverpool’s website, Morton raved about Maddison.
“Probably Maddison; a very good player, James Maddison, just because of his movement and his cleverness,” Morton said, when asked for the identity of the best player he has faced so far.
Morton on Maddison: Leicester star would be ideal addition for Liverpool
Liverpool have numerous options in that no.10, attacking midfield position. The Reds boast the likes of Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. But none have the quality of Maddison.
A player that can truly create magic from nothing. Glimpses of genius, when he is at his best. The Mirror say Leicester rate Maddison at £60million and if the Reds have the cash, they should really consider a move for him.
