The Express claim that Paris Saint-Germain will make a £40 million bid for Liverpool’s star man Philippe Coutinho in January as the club back under fire manager Unai Emery after the French team’s disappointing start to the season in Ligue Une. The Brazilian has been linked with a move away but is said to be happy on Merseyside.
Losing the playmaker would be a massive blow for the Reds, who would most likely hold out for a much higher price if they were to allow him to leave and would be hugely reluctant to do so mid-season without a replacement expected.
On the opposite front, Joe Hart has been one of the most prominent names to be linked with a move to Anfield in recent weeks, and the Mirror say that a battle with Chelsea for the Manchester City ‘keeper could be on the cards with Thibaut Courtois considering a move to Real Madrid.
The England number one has done enough for Torino in Serie A so far to show that he can still hack it in the Premier League, and with Jurgen Klopp seemingly not convinced by either Simon Mignolet or Loris Karius, it could be a good deal for the club.
Jurgen Klopp has spoken out to praise Chelsea as they lead the title race, but also to suggest that luck has been on their side on the injury front in the first half of the season. Klopp told the media:
“There is no perfect system in world football, but when they go on like this they are the deserved champions, nobody could have a doubt about this. I am pretty sure that until now Chelsea are maybe the team that have had the most luck with injuries. We lost Phil [Coutinho] and Daniel [Sturridge] and Danny Ings in difficult moments when you really could use them. If it’s Hazard and Costa at Chelsea, is it the same afterwards?”
It is fair to say that the German has a point, with Coutinho eyeing a return for the fixture against Manchester City in the last game of 2016 for the Reds.
