Liverpool are set to make a move for Real Madrid forward Marco Asensio this summer, according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo.
The Reds are keen to land the versatile performer who can play on either flank or behind a central striker. The 23-year-old has scored six goals and contributed seven assists this season.
Jurgen Klopp’s side reached the Champions League final with a superb comeback victory over Barcelona last night. Trailing 3-0 from the first leg, Liverpool defied the odds and beat the Spanish giants 4-0.

The Reds are still keen to add an attacking spark to their forward ranks, having missed out on Nabil Fekir from Lyon last summer. Asensio fits the billing and Real Madrid’s desire not to sell doesn’t seem to be putting Liverpool off.
Asensio’s release clause is a staggering £602 million and his contract runs until 2023 at the Santiago Bernabeu. His wages, however, are just £90k-a-week, according to Total Sportek, and would be more than affordable for Liverpool.
TBR Verdict
Asensio would represent a superb signing for Liverpool. At 23 his career is still in its infancy and he could become a star in the years to come.
Liverpool definitely need some reinforcements in the final third. Daniel Sturridge looks set to depart, whilst you wouldn’t want to rely on the likes of Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri should anyone suffer a serious injury.

Real Madrid aren’t overly keen to offload just now but that might change. Zinedine Zidane might want to go on a spending spree of his own and Asensio could be offloaded to free up some more money.
Given his creativity and awareness on a football pitch, the Spaniard would be a coup for Liverpool and Klopp is wise to act this summer.
