Liverpool and Manchester United are both set to enter the race to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton, according to reports this weekend.
The Mirror claims that Brighton could be ready to cash in Caicedo. After signing for just £4m, it’s claimed the Seagulls could look to demand around £85m for the Ecuadorian midfield star. With that, it’s suggested that both United and Liverpool will be in the mix, with Newcastle also keen.
Caicedo has been super impressive for Brighton this season. Alongside Alexis Mac Allister in the middle of the park, Caicedo has helped lay the foundations for Brighton to climb to eighth.

Brighton, though, are believed to be tempted to try and turn a profit on the midfielder. Graham Potter is also said to be keen on Caicedo, having moved to Chelsea.
Certainly, it seems like the race could be on for Caicedo. But the £85m figure could prove problematic for those interested clubs. Liverpool are likely to move for Jude Bellingham, while Manchester United have been reluctant to spend such sums unless they feel a player is really worth it.
A reunion with Potter at Chelsea, then, could well be on the cards eventually.
TBR’s View: Liverpool need Caicedo and Bellingham
There’s no point pretending otherwise here. Liverpool need more than just Jude Bellingham to sort their midfield out and landing Moises Caicedo would do just nicely.
Surely, it might mean a £200m or so outlay from the club. But at a time when a rebuild is needed, Liverpool might be wise to go and spend the money.
Caicedo has looked a class act ever since signing. Dubbed ‘fantastic‘ by Graham Potter previously, Caicedo certainly looks like one of the bargains of the last few seasons. Now, at over £80m, he could soon become one of the most expensive buys of all time.
