Barcelona star Luis Suarez offers honest assessment on Liverpool supporters

The ex-Red has been discussing playing for the club’s fans during a recent interview.

Barcelona forward Luis Suarez has told Otro that Liverpool supporters are the best in world football. The former Red claims the Anfield faithful has always treated him exceptionally well.

Suarez is currently out injured but was part of the Barca squad as they threw away a three-goal lead against Liverpool to miss out on last season’s Champions League Final.

The Uruguayan did receive some boos from the Liverpool faithful during that tie after he opted to join the Catalan giants in 2014 for £75 million.

Liverpool fans might resent the controversial character for his move; although there is little denying the quality he showed in English football.

He netted 82 goals and registered 47 assists in 133 matches, proving a complete striker for the club.

Suarez has no issue with Liverpool supporters and to this day appreciates them as the best.

He told Otro: “They are among the best football fans because of all the love they always gave me during my time at Liverpool.

“They always loved me and treated me exceptionally well. That’s why they are among the best football fans in the world. For me, the best.”

Suarez always gave everything in a Liverpool shirt and he was desperately unfortunate not to win a Premier League medal during the 2013/14 campaign.

The Reds missed out to Manchester City by just two points, despite Liverpool looking in cruise control at one point.

Liverpool pride themselves on having great supporters and they will appreciate these comments from Suarez.

Despite the fact he walked away from the club, the football purists can still appreciate what a superb player he was during his time at Anfield.

Unsavoury seem to follow Suarez around, although he does appear to have mellowed at Barcelona.

His decision to head to the Nou Camp has proved positive on a personal level. He has won four La Liga titles and lifted the Champions League during 2014/15.

As a proven goalscorer he adhered himself to the Reds faithful, although if their paths cross again, supporters will hope Suarez is left as miserable as he was on his last trip to Anfield.
