Liverpool are interested in signing Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir, according to Turkish website Futbol Arena.
Apparently scouts have identified the 23-year-old as an ideal backup to number one Alisson Becker.
Cakir recently made his debut for the Turkish national team, after impressed over the course of his 25 appearances for Trabzonspor, in which he kept seven clean sheets.
Earlier this year, the 6ft 3in star’s agent Engin Kirkpinar claimed the Reds were keen, along with Schalke and Lille (via HaberTurk).
With Simon Mignolet having been linked with a move away from the club this summer, it is little surprise to see Liverpool looking at replacements.
The £60,000-a-week Belgian (Spotrac) has been a great servant for the club since joining back in 2013 from Sunderland.
The Evening Standard have reported that Mignolet will be allowed to leave the club this summer, with a number of clubs having enquired about him already.
The club will apparently not be moving for Southampton’s Alex McCarthy (via The Liverpool Echo), so Cakir may well pitch up at Anfield this summer as an inexpensive addition for Jurgen Klopp.
In the Super Lig in 2018/19 he conceded a respectable 28 goals in 25 games and impressed with his reflexes and distribution.
