Franck Kessie is a name on lots of lips this summer and the AC Milan warrior could be an ideal signing for Liverpool prior to the transfer deadline.

Arsenal and Tottenham have also been linked with a move for the midfielder. With that in mind, it does seem likely that he will leave the San Siro this summer.

Liverpool find themselves in the market for a midfielder. Gini Wijnaldum ran his contract down at Anfield and opted to join PSG on a free transfer prior to Euro 2020.

Now, the Kopites are looking for a replacement for the fan favourite Dutchman who spent five years on Merseyside.

Kessie could prove an attractive proposition for Liverpool to consider. He is capable of playing a number of midfield roles and enjoyed an amazing 2020/21. The 25-year-old scored 14 goals and claimed six assists during the campaign.

The 44-cap is thought to be valued at around £43 million but that could represent good value for money.

At 24 he has bags of time left to improve and possesses the sort of qualities that would make him an ideal player to replace Wijnaldum.

Former Milan striker Antonio Cassano previously lavished praise on Kessie, calling him a ‘devastating’ player.

Spectacular traits

He tackles well, moves the ball nicely and works extremely hard for his team. The fact he weighs in with goals and assists is an added bonus.

Kessie is currently with the Ivory Coast squad who will hope to strike gold at the Olympics. He has just one year to run on his existing deal and upon his return will speak with Milan regarding his future.

The 44-cap star earns a modest £78,000-a-week and should he head for Anfield he’d undoubtedly win himself a pay rise.

Liverpool need a replacement for Winaldum. If Klopp pulls out the stops for Kessie, supporters could quickly be left asking, ‘Gini Who?’, in no time at all.
