Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has commented on the decision to disallow Roberto Firmino’s goal in Liverpool’s dramatic 2-1 win against Aston Villa.
It appeared Firmino had scored a perfectly legitimate goal before VAR interrupted and suggested he was millimetres offside. However, plenty of fans and pundits have since rubbished the suggestion. The line drawn which reportedly showed the Brazilain was just beyond Tyrone Mings was skewed, which dod not help the argument.

Liverpool eventually scored two late goals through Andy Robertson and Sadio Mane to win the game but this could have ended up being a big mistake in what will be a close title race.
Fowler has suggested he was not surprised to hear an error had been made when he learned the identity of the referee in charge of VAR for the game.
TBR’s View
Liverpool fans are not exactly fond of Atkinson as a match official. He was in charge during the recent draw with rivals Manchester United and allowed the Red Devils’ opening goal of that game despite what looked a clear foul on Divock Origi in the build-up.
So for Liverpool’s former star striker to have a similar viewpoint will not come as a surprise.
It is just fortunate that Liverpool went on to rectify the mistake with their own brilliance.
