Liverpool eventually saw off a resilient Newcastle United side last night as goals from Jota, Salah, and Trent Alexander-Arnold ensured the Reds ran out 3-1 winners at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp’s men found themselves behind early on when Jonjo Shelvey rifled in from range. The former Liverpool man sending a message – of sorts – to his ex-employers. However, it proved fruitless really in the end, as the Reds simply upped the ante and moved through the gears.

There was, as usual, a number of excellent performances within the Liverpool ranks. One of whom was Spanish midfielder, Thiago, who seems to be growing and growing as this season trundles along. And BT Sport pundit Jermaine Jenas believes the former Barcelona man has added a different dimension to Liverpool.

He’s added a different dimension to this Liverpool team. They’ve had passers in there before, but not like this. They’ve usually always depended much more on Trent Alexander-Arnold or Virgil van Dijk at the back,” Jenas said last night.

“They can do it from the centre of the pitch with this guy now.”

Thiago endured a slow start to his life as a Liverpool player. A number of sluggish performances the niggling injuries, ensured he never quite got going. However, things have picked up massively.

TBR’s View: Thiago Showing Just Why Liverpool Courted Him

Everyone know why Liverpool were keen on Thiago at the time, but there has been nagging doubt since he did come through the door. But not anymore.

The Spaniard is showing his class and proving to everyone how good he is. Time and again he played killer passes last night. Whether they be over the top, or firing in between the lines to catch the defence out. At times, he was a joy to watch.

Jenas makes a good point here, too. He has given Klopp and Liverpool another dimension, and he is certainly a top, top midfielder in the Premier League.
