Jamie Carragher sees Liverpool keeping hold of Salah and Mane amid Real Madrid interest

Liverpool are well-equipped to fend off any summer interest for Sadio Mane and Mo Salah, Jamie Carragher has told Sky Sports.

The Reds duo have 34 league goals between them this season and interest in the summer is likely to be rife.

France Football have confirmed Real Madrid interest in Mane, whilst Real Madrid held intentions to sign Salah last summer.

Former central defender Carragher believes there is no reason why anyone would want to leave Liverpool at the moment.

He told Sky Sports: “Liverpool did lose Philippe Coutinho not so long ago, but I think it would be difficult to prise players away from the club now.

“I think right now the players absolutely adore Jurgen Klopp and they want to stay part of this journey.”

Carragher played 508 games for Liverpool between 1996 and 2003.

The man who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports says it won’t be easy for Liverpool to keep their stars from the clutches of Europe’s elite.

He does, however, believe Jurgen Klopp’s presence gives them every chance.

He continued: “If Real Madrid and Barcelona come calling for your players, it’s very difficult because most players anywhere want to play for those two clubs.

“I think right now the players absolutely adore Jurgen Klopp and they want to stay part of this journey.”

TBR Verdict

Carragher is quite clearly speaking from the heart here with these comments.

He worships Liverpool and will always see the good in them, which is fine.

The harsh reality, however, is that Klopp keeping hold of his best players will be largely dependant on silverware.

If Liverpool can lay claim to the biggest prizes then the likes of Salah and Mane would have no qualms about staying at Anfield.

Failing to land such titles though will naturally turn their star players towards the glitz and glamour of La Liga.
