‘Liverpool is one of the options’: Fabrizio Romano claims Klopp is eyeing ‘complete’ £59m star

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Liverpool are indeed one of the clubs eyeing Aurelien Tchouameni.

The transfer guru was speaking on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE on Thursday.

Jurgen Klopp’s Reds have been linked with the Monaco star over the past few weeks.

90Min recently reported that Liverpool have registered their interest in signing Tchouameni.

The Anfield outfit could certainly do with bolstering their midfield ranks come the summer.

Although Liverpool are strong in that area – as they are all across the pitch – there’s certainly scope to strengthen.

Jordan Henderson is 31 and James Milner is 36, so Klopp may well be looking at potential first-team ready successors.

“Yes, they’re monitoring him”

On Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE, co-host Stephen Howson forwarded a fan question about Tchouameni to Romano.

“He has options in England, Premier League,” replied the Italian.

“Liverpool is one of the options, yes, they’re monitoring him.

“But there’s nothing advanced between clubs, so it’s a possibility.

“Also, Real Madrid are monitoring him and they’re still in the process to decide if they want to sign a midfielder or not.

“So it’s still an open one, but Real Madrid and Premier League clubs for Tchouameni.

“In the coming weeks we will enter into the real important stages of this negotiation.”

In terms of a price tag, Spanish outlet AS – via Sport Witness – claimed Monaco want €70m (£59m) for Tchouameni.

There has also been speculation suggesting that the 22-year-old is keen on a switch to Anfield.

Journalist Santi Aouna recently told Empire of the Kop: “For the moment, there is just some contact with his agent.

“Monaco knows it too. The player is very interested in Liverpool.

“If Aurelien Tchouameni has managed to become regular in his performances, it is also because over time he has settled into a role that suits him better.

“Positioned higher on the pitch, his athletic and technical abilities allow him to bring a real plus offensively without neglecting defensive tasks.

“He is mature on and off the pitch. Complete player.”
