Liverpool are hopeful of tying down midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum to a new deal at Anfield, despite emerging reports of interest from Barcelona.
The Reds are desperate to keep hold of the Dutchman. The midfielder has been a key cog under Jurgen Klopp this season, making 38 appearances across all competitions.

And according to The Guardian, Liverpool have held positive initial talks with Wijnaldum over a new deal. It is believed a three or four-year offer could be on the table for the 29-year-old.
However, things aren’t going to be as plain sailing as Klopp might want. That is because, according to Goal, Barcelona have registered an interest in Wijnaldum.
Although Barca’s interest is bound to be speculative for now, it puts another idea into the head of the Dutchman. Indeed, the report claims Barca are just ‘admirers’ as thing stand.

Liverpool, then, will be hoping their midfielder puts pen to paper as quickly as possible to dismiss any talk of a move to Spain.
Nothing to worry about for Liverpool here, Wijnaldum will sign – TBR View
Barcelona love themselves a Dutch player so it’s not the biggest surprise ever to see them keen on Wijnaldum.
In previous years, such interest might have been a problem. But not now. Liverpool are one of the best teams in Europe, Wijnaldum is settled and he plays regularly. Why, then, would he move away?
Of course, the Nou Camp is quite the arena to play football in. But so is Anfield and Wijnaldum is loved there.
Liverpool fans can probably rest easy when it comes to this one.
