Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has posted a message on Twitter backing Liverpool midfielder Herbie Kane to sign for Hull City in January.
The Reds are likely to offload the youngster during the transfer window. Kane’s only appearances this season have come in the Carabao Cup and he seems surplus at Anfield.
The Posh chairman was asked whether or not Kane was a target for his club during the window. He chose a tongue-in-cheek response which backed Hull to sign him instead:
Id bet a grand on him going to Hull in Jan 👀 https://t.co/F1CTWme1vL

His response was likely to be cheeky but it will naturally provoke intrigue.
Tigers boss Grant McCann used to be Peterborough’s manager and he will know all about Kane having managed him at Doncaster last season.
During 2018/19 he helped Doncaster to the League One play-offs. He played 49 games, scoring seven goals and registering 10 assists.
McCann could pounce once again, although Peterborough have been credited with an interest in the player.
Having not really made the grade at Liverpool it will be important for Kane to go somewhere and play football.
The 21-year-old has never played higher than the third tier and it will be interesting to see how he would get on at Hull.
MacAnthony could, of course, be keeping his cards close to his chest, although he would surely love to sign the Liverpool man.
