Julian Nagelsmann had the chance to manage in England with Tottenham Hotspur and he could be given the opportunity to replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

That is according to journalist Dean Jones, who has reported that Nagelsmann is one of the candidates for the soon-to-be vacant manager’s job at Liverpool.

So, what has been reported about Liverpool and Julian Nagelsmann? Let’s take a look.

Liverpool linked with Julian Nagelsmann

Well, Liverpool have announced that Jurgen Klopp will step down as the manager of the first team at the end of the season.

Klopp, who has led Liverpool to Premier League and UEFA Champions League success during his time at Anfield so far, has said that he is running out of energy.

Journalist Dean Jones has reported in SportsLens that Julian Nagelsmann is one of the managerial candidates for Liverpool.

The report in SportsLens has claimed that “Nagelsmann has also been talked about as a potential successor to Klopp”.

However, it has been added that “there has been more concern about that over recent times and he is currently the manager of the German national side, albeit on a contract that expires in the summer”.

Xabi Alonso is the prime candidate to replace Klopp. Steven Gerrard and Roberto De Zerbi are also in the frame.

Julian Nagelsmann could have managed Tottenham Hotspur

This is not the first time that Julian Nagelsmann has been linked with a Premier League club.

The 36-year-old came close to taking charge of Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, according to reports.

The Daily Mail reported in May 2023 that Spurs had held talks with Nagelsmann over becoming the first-team head coach.

The report claimed that the German manager turned down the chance to manage Spurs. Nagelsmann “was not convinced by the direction the club intended to head this summer and has decided to withdraw”, according to The Daily Mail at the time.

Spurs decided to hire Ange Postecoglou in the end, and under the former Celtic manager, the North London club are flying at the moment. Tottenham could even win the Premier League title this season.

In Apri 2023, Sky Sports reported that Chelsea had held talks with Nagelsmann. The Blues eventually appointed former Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino.

In September 2023, Nagelsmann was appointed the Germany head coach until the end of July 2024.
