Liverpool have achieved a lot under Jurgen Klopp – and a first has now happened under the German after today’s win over Brentford.
The Bees welcomed the Reds to the Gtech Community Stadium as Thomas Frank – who has actually been linked with the upcoming vacancy at Anfield – went head to head with the man he may replace.
However, Liverpool ran riot as goals from Darwin Nunez, Alexis Mac Allister, Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo secured a 4-1 win.
So, what have Liverpool done for the first time under Jurgen Klopp? Let’s take a look…
Liverpool have achieved a first under Jurgen Klopp
Well, to our surprise, Liverpool had never actually won at Brentford under the 56-year-old.
Since the Bees were promoted in May 2021, they have managed to record a 3-3 draw against the Reds on their home turf, as well as a 3-1 win over Liverpool.
In fact, Liverpool had not actually won a league game at Brentford since 1938 when a 3-1 win was secured in the old Division One, until now.

Of course, World War Two taking place – and the fact Liverpool were not in the same league as Brentford for over 70 years – must be taken into account, although it was an interesting statistic nonetheless.
This was Klopp’s last chance to secure a league victory at Brentford before his departure this summer, and thankfully, Liverpool got the job done for the man from Stuttgart.
Liverpool up against it
Liverpool secured a first league win at Brentford since 1938 today without a few key players.
Klopp was missing Trent Alexander-Arnold, Thiago Alcantara, Dominik Szoboszlai and Alisson Becker with all four suffering injuries.
Things got even worse for Liverpool as both Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota were forced off during the opening 45 minutes of today’s win.

Hopefully, Liverpool can get all of those players back before next Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Chelsea, and secure Klopp at least one more trophy before he leaves this summer.
Xabi Alonso is apparently keen to replace the German when he does depart Merseyside at the end of the season, with the Reds said to be preparing an offer for the Spaniard, according to Foot Mercato.
