Liverpool are being linked with a move for Watford winger, Ismaila Sarr, and the Reds could have the ideal ace up their sleeve thanks to current superstar, Sadio Mane.

Sarr is being linked with a move to Anfield, with the Mirror claiming that Jurgen Klopp is a fan of the winger.

The 22-year-old has been in fine form since arriving in England last summer. Indeed, since football restarted since lockdown, Sarr has been one of the standout performers for the Hornets.

Five goals and five assists, plus the ability to play on either wing, should mean that Sarr fits the system at Anfield to a tee.

And while he might have to play second-fiddle to the likes of Mo Salah and Sadio Mane initially, it is indeed that relationship with Mane that could prove crucial in Liverpool landing him.

Sarr ‘idolises’ Mane, surely it has to help proceedings

Ahead of their game earlier in the season, The Express reported that Sarr is, in fact, a massive fan of Mane, and not just because of their relationship at international level.

Sarr was quoted as saying Mane is his ‘inspiration and idol’ while he also claimed the Liverpool man to be the ‘best player in the world’.

Those are high words of praise from Sarr. Surely, then, if the chance arises for him to go and play with Mane at club level, it’s something he will take.

Jurgen Klopp, too, will be well aware of the relationship the two players hold. And while it’s not the be-all and end-all when it comes to signing a player, any advantage can matter.

If Mane can get in Sarr’s ear and tell him all about Liverpool, it shouldn’t, then, be a surprise to see the Watford man wind up on Merseyside over the summer.
