Liverpool ace James Milner has been praised by a number of Real Madrid fans following comments he made in the aftermath of their Champions League quarter-final second leg.

Milner was clattered by Casemiro in the first half of the Anfield stalemate, resulting in Andrew Robertson squaring up to the Brazilian and the Reds coaches rising to their feet.

Casemiro was booked for the hefty challenge as calls were made for the player to be dismissed.

After the game, which saw Liverpool lose 3-1 on aggregate to exit the competition, Milner was asked about the challenge and whether Casemiro should have been sent off.

“I just kicked the ball down the line and got nailed, but it’s all part of it,” he told BT Sport.

And a number of Real fans were happy to hear Milner shrug the incident off instead of complaining or trying to make excuses for his side’s elimination.

Milner put in an impressive performance after being handed a surprise start, weighing in with strong tackles on Karim Benzema and Luka Modric.

He also forced a good save out of Thibaut Courtois with a curling effort before being substituted, and was awarded 8 out of 10 by the Liverpool Echo for his efforts.
