It’s safe to say this season has not gone as planned for Liverpool and they very much need to address the squad this summer.
Big money signings like Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak have struggled for different reasons, while Jeremie Frimpong and Hugo Ekitike have shown inconsistencies.
All in all, after spending 100s of millions of pounds, Arne Slot very much needs to go back to the drawing board with a few things. Add in Mohamed Salah’s departure, and suddenly Liverpool’s summer recruitment feels bigger than ever.
However, in what is good news at least for Reds fans, it does seem Liverpool are at least looking at the right sort of names.
Indeed, according to journalist Ben Jacobs, their dream signing has been identified.

Liverpool would love to sign Michael Olise to replace Mohamed Salah
It might seem like fantasy stuff for Liverpool fans but Michael Olise is a name who keeps cropping up in conversations for Premier League clubs.
Despite being a star for both Bayern Munich and France, there is a tentative feeling that he might fancy cutting his cloth back in England one day.
Indeed, according to Ben Jacobs, Olise is the ‘dream’ signing for Liverpool.
“Morgan Rogers has been on Liverpool’s radar last summer, but they’re not there yet, not to the same degree anyway, as Arsenal or Chelsea or PSG or Manchester United. So it feels like if Liverpool could pick a dream target, it would be Michael Olise,” Jacobs said on The Market Madness podcast.
“They don’t usually enter lost causes or races though, and at this stage, they’re not working on that deal because their intel is ultimately that Bayern’s position of not for sale is genuine. Yan Diomande, a different story. Price would probably have to drop below €100 million and maybe it will if he chooses not to sign a new deal.”

Olise is one of few players who can soften Salah blow
It might not quite have hit Liverpool fans and Arne Slot just yet how much they are going to miss Mo Salah and just how hard he is going to be to replace.
A player of that calibre is simply not readily available and the goals and assists he brings to the table are beyond what most wingers can manage.
Olise, of course, is someone who could at least make a fist of replacing Salah in some way.

At Bayern this season, Olise has managed 24 goals and 27 assists, the sort of numbers that Salah was putting up in his best years at Anfield.
The problem is, Bayern don’t need or want to sell and Olise, even if he was available, would be over the £150m mark.
Ultimately, this is one that is unlikely to happen. But still, Liverpool fans can dream.
