Gary Lineker blown away by Liverpool stars Sadio Mane and Trent Alexander-Arnold

The fantastic pair were in fine form against the Reds on a famous night at Anfield.

Former Everton striker and Match of the Day host Gary Lineker has heaped praise on the squad depth at Liverpool’s disposal.

Jurgen Klopp’s team thrashed the Toffees 5-2 at Anfield last night to push the perilous Marco Silva closer to the Goodison Park exit.

The Liverpool boss opted to ring the changes. Adam Lallana, Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri were all surprise inclusions in the starting eleven.

Liverpool maintained their lead at the summit of the Premier League. Both Leicester and Manchester City won so it was vital the Reds didn’t slip up.

Lineker spent a season at Goodison Park during 1985/86. He scored a magnificent 38 goals in 52 appearances.

He couldn’t help but praise the strength in depth on offer for Liverpool last night, however:

Lineker was also keen to mention two standout Liverpool performers during the contest.

Both Trent Alexander-Arnold and Sadio Mane were lively and in devastating form and the former Toffee was blown away with their input.

It really is hard to see where Liverpool will slip up this season.

When Everton got the game back to 2-1 it was a real test of Liverpool’s character. They passed with flying colours and in their full stride, Klopp’s team are a real joy to watch.

Of course, it’s still relatively early days in the context of the race for the title.

To have played nearly every team in the division once and not lost is a real bonus, however, and it will be a mammoth challenge for any team who fancies toppling Liverpool.

The Reds will never have a better chance to win the title and Klopp must ensure his team keeps up the momentum.
