Report: Kirkby insiders say Liverpool man has a better touch than anyone else; set for key role in 22/23 campaign

Liverpool fans will be excited for the new season, with Darwin Nunez the big name signing of a summer which sees Sadio Mane leave for pastures new.

It will be down to Nunez, along with January signing Luis Diaz, to ensure Mane’s presence is not missed as much as it might be at other clubs. The Senegal star is clearly world-class, but Liverpool have acted swiftly in the market and possess a squad of players already capable of producing the goods.

One of those Liverpool squad players is Roberto Firmino. Often a forgotten man in Liverpool’s success, Firmino has seen his game-time stunted since the arrivals of the likes of Jota and Diaz. However, according to The Athletic, the Brazilian forward is still highly-respected at Anfield.

Indeed, The Athletic reports that those at Liverpool’s Kirkby training base even consider Firmino to have the best touch in the entire squad. It’s claimed that Jurgen Klopp could well turn to Firmino in tight games next season, such is his value to the club still.

Certainly, Firmino does do a lot which goes under the radar. It was a point noted by Gary Neville last season, too, with the Sky man claiming the Liverpool forward doesn’t get the respect he might deserve.

TBR’s View: Firmino Can Still Be Crucial For Liverpool

Bobby Firmino might have lost his regular starting XI spot but rest assured, Jurgen Klopp will use him next season, and use him a lot.

A the report here mentions, Firmino brings something different to the Liverpool team. His ability to drop deep and orchestrate play has been key in the success the likes of Mane and Salah have had. And there’s no reason that can’t carry on next season.

Firmino walks into many other PL sides. Liverpool have done right to keep him around, and he’ll have a big role next season.
