'Congratulations': Harvey Elliott reacts to exciting news from Liverpool today
Liverpool academy striker Fidel O’Rourke has signed a contract extension at Anfield.
And plenty of Reds players, including Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones, congratulated him on the news.
O’Rourke, who plays for Liverpool’s Under-23s, has put pen to paper on a new long-term deal with the club.
O’Rourke joined the Reds academy setup as an Under-14 player and has risen through the ranks.
The 20-year-old signed his first professional contract in 2020, and it was extended for the first time in May last year.
O’Rourke is a boyhood Liverpool fan and has also captained the club’s Under-18 side.
He was part of the young Reds team that won the FA Youth Cup in 2019.
So far this season, O’Rourke has made eight appearances in Premier League 2.
He scored his first goal of the campaign in the 7-1 victory over Tottenham last month.
O’Rourke took to Instagram following the news, sharing a photo of himself signing the contract.
He also wrote the caption “proud to sign a new deal”, tagging Liverpool’s page.
Here are just some of those who congratulated O’Rourke in the comments:
Liverpool U23s are currently fifth in the Premier League 2 table and finish their season against Manchester United’s U23s on Sunday.
