Liverpool fans want Leighton Clarkson handed start against Midtjylland

A number of Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to implore Jurgen Klopp to hand Leighton Clarkson his Champions League debut on Wednesday night.

The Reds have a golden opportunity to rotate their options against Midtjylland. Klopp’s men are already through to the knockout stages of the competition as group winners.

It would be no surprise to see the Liverpool boss turn to a number of youngsters. The likes of Neco Williams, Rhys Williams and Curtis Jones will surely be in contention to start in Denmark.

But there is also scope for even fresher faces to come in. And one of those the fans would love to see involved is Clarkson.

The 19-year-old is yet to make an appearance for the first-team this season. He did however, feature in both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup last term.

He has been on the first-team bench on a few occasions. So he must surely be in Klopp’s thinking for Wednesday’s tie.

And there are plenty of fans hoping that he will get an opportunity. He is someone who looks to have the potential to play in any role across the midfield.

Several names are being backed for a chance amongst those on social media. But many clearly feel that Clarkson is the one who could make the most of an opportunity.
