England defeated Andorra 4-0 at Wembley in their latest World Cup qualifier last night and for Liverpool fans it was a chance to run the rule over Jude Bellingham. The youngster was handed a start by Gareth Southgate and boy can he play.

The Borussia Dortmund talent started in central midfield. Both Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips earned a rest, with a tough game against Poland to come in midweek. Bellingham was in the squad for Euro 2020 but has waited patiently for a starting berth.

Liverpool were loosely linked with the youngster in the summer. Given the sum of money that Dortmund will demand, however, a move to Anfield was always unlikely post-pandemic. The former champions opted to tighten the purse strings this time around, landing just Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig.

At just 18, Bellingham has bags of experience. He made 44 appearances for Birmingham and now has 51 outings under his belt for Dortmund, including game time in the Champions League.

Liverpool lost Gini Wijnaldum during the summer. With that in mind, Bellingham would make an ideal signing for the Reds. It certainly seems likely that the club will need to add another central midfielder during the forthcoming transfer windows.

What did Liverpool fans say about Bellingham?

It’s fair to say they were impressed. As England struggled to put away the minnows at Wembley during the first half, Bellingham provided a bright spark. He was constantly looking forwards and his trickery made for some great entertainment.

The £52,000-a-week player looks like a man for the big occasion. He never seems fazed by anything and continues to grow as a player, despite his tender years.
