Liverpool host Arsenal on Saturday evening at Anfield – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter have urged manager Jurgen Klopp to recall defender Joe Gomez to the starting XI.
The only two teams in the Premier League with a 100 per cent record after two games face off against each other, where the winner will become the outright early pacesetter.
Jurgen Klopp’s team beat Arsenal 5-1 last December in their last meeting at Anfield and will be favourites to earn another three points.
But the Gunners strengthened significantly during the summer and are looking to break back into the top four.
A selection of Liverpool supporters on social media pointed out that they would love to see Gomez restored to the team against Arsenal.
They feel that they will need the pace of the 22-year-old centre-back to deal with Arsenal threats such as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Nicolas Pepe.
Gomez played in the opening day win over Norwich City, but was left on the bench against Southampton at the weekend with Joel Matip preferred.
It’s a straight shootout between the duo to partner talisman Virgil Van Dijk in the heart of defence and it will be intriguing to see who Klopp opts for against a main rival in Arsenal.
Here are some Liverpool fans on Gomez:
Gomez for Matip mate imo. Just 2 deal with pace of arsenal if auba and pepe both start

Gomez And VVD pace will be needed against Arsenal quick two up front
Matip hasn’t done anything wrong but Gomez should play because of his pace.

Yep. Prefer the pace of Gomez over Matip next to VVD v Arsenal, just.

I suspect he will go for Gomez to snuff out Aubameyang. Personally i think we should just for for it and despite his defensive misgivings play TAA for what he gives us going forward #LFC

Joe Gomez has to play against Arsenal, quickest centre back in the league.
