Liverpool fans want £14m star after glittering display at The Emirates on Monday
It was a fascinating game between two London sides at The Emirates on Monday night, as Arsenal snatched a point against Crystal Palace. Odsonne Edouard looked as though he had snatched all three points only for Arsenal to equalise. Liverpool fans were throughly impressed with the Palace ace.
Edouard, 23, joined Palace in the summer after a brilliant few years at Celtic. The ex-PSG star scored a huge 86 goals in 179 Celtic outings – and laid on 39 assists for the Scottish giants. The form saw him eventually move to Palace, with The Standard claiming the London side paid £14million.
There were doubts whether Edouard could drop down a division and still have the same impact as he did north of the border. But his debut against Tottenham dispelled those concerns. Coming on as a substitute, the forward scored a brilliant brace during a 3-0 win for the Eagles at Selhurst Park.
Then, on Monday night, Edouard took his tally to three Premier League goals in five games for Patrick Vieira’s side. With the scoreline reading 1-1, Palace countered after a mistake by Albert Lokonga. Edouard ran at Ben White before lashing an effort off the bar, past Aaron Ramsdale.
What are Liverpool fans saying about Palace star Edouard?
Liverpool have options up top – but lack depth. Obviously, Mo Salah is probably the most in-form player in the world right now. Sadio Mane is also on fire, scoring his 100th Premier League goal last time out. But they need cover, with both set to leave for the African Cup of Nations in January.
Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota and outcast Divock Origi are the other options. But Liverpool could do with another. The chances of them getting Edouard just six months after he joined Palace are almost zero – but Liverpool fans might be frustrated the Reds did not sign him from Celtic in the first place.
