Jamie Vardy has that knack of scoring against the Premier League’s top six clubs and continued it with a brace in Leicester’s 3-0 thumping of Arsenal yesterday.
Even before Ainsley Maitland-Niles was sent off in the first half, Vardy’s pace and aggression always looked likely to trouble an Arsenal backline that is so porous on the road – and so it proved.
It was a game that probably represented the high point of Brendan Rodgers’ brief reign so far but they face their biggest test next week, when they travel to the Etihad Stadium to face Manchester City.
Under Claude Puel, the Foxes beat City at the King Power earlier this season but repeating the trick is another kettle of fish.

But Liverpool fans are hoping Vardy can help his side to exactly that – or get a draw – to ensure City drop points and hand the Reds the opportunity to steal a march in the title race.
That’s why much of the reaction to Vardy’s post-match message was from Liverpool supporters urging Vardy to repeat his weekend masterclass next Monday…
