Liverpool fans suggest Andy Robertson in new role against Manchester United

Liverpool travel to Old Trafford tomorrow to face Manchester United in the Premier League – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter have made the bizarre suggestion that Andy Robertson should be used in a new position.

The Reds face Man United on Thursday in their rearranged league fixture, and need three points to try keep themselves firmly in the race for Champions League qualification.

A selection of Liverpool supporters on social media believe that Scotland international Robertson should drop into an unfamiliar centre-back role against Man United.

The 27-year-old has established himself as one of the world’s elite left-backs during the last few years at Anfield.

If  any predictions are made about Jurgen Klopp’s starting XI before a Liverpool game, Robertson will always be guessed at left-back. However, some want Klopp to move him across the defence into a central role.

Is It Harder To Win Than The Euros Than The World Cup?!

Liverpool’s problems at centre-half are well documented with the long-term absences of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip. They are also missing Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies tomorrow (official website).

Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams were the starting centre-back duo in the 2-0 win against Southampton at the weekend, but some are fearful of using that combination at Old Trafford.

If Robertson were to play in the heart of defence, rarely-used left-back Konstantinos Tsimikas would be the natural replacement at full-back.
