Jurgen Klopp made nine changes for the FA Cup third round trip to Wolves last night, offering Liverpool fans an unwelcome reminder of the standard of the players he inherited from Brendan Rodgers.
Klopp has done outstanding work with the Reds’ first team, but the reserve options contain the likes of Simon Mignolet, who was first-choice goalkeeper under the Northern Irishman.
Alisson arrived in the summer to provide a huge upgrade between the sticks but Mignolet was handed a rare start at Molineux last night as Liverpool slipped to a 2-1 defeat against the Old Gold.
Ruben Neves hit the winner with a trademark screamer but it went in at Mignolet’s near post from over 30 yards out, which raises questions over whether the Belgian could have done better.

Liverpool supporters need no second invitation to pour scorn on Mignolet after his array of blunders down the years and their frustration with the goalkeeper was evident again in the wake of last night’s game.
The former Sunderland stopper is a signal of their previous mediocrity and that anger was plain to see in the aftermath of Neves’ winner last night…
