Liverpool winger Mo Salah rightly grabbed the headlines but Roberto Firmino performed well in the win over Arsenal. Liverpool won 3-1 at Anfield with a Salah brace after Joel Matip scored a header. Lucas Torreira scored Arsenal’s consolation.
Firmino excelled yet again in the centre-forward role. His importance to this team was highlighted when he was on the bench in the UEFA Super Cup. He came on as a substitute at half-time and changed the game.
Although he did not score or get an assist against Arsenal, he made things tick. The Brazilian continues to improve with each game he plays, working well in tandem with Salah and Sadio Mane.
Firmino also produced one moment of incredible skill in the game. The 27-year-old dinked a moving ball back over Dani Ceballos’ head to set up a volley, which was deflected wide for a corner. That audacious skill shows how much talent Firmino possesses.
Here are some tweets discussing his excellent display against the Gunners.
