Liverpool fans react to report that Adrian is set to replace Simon Mignolet

The experienced goalkeeper is a free agent.

Liverpool are set to replace Simon Mignolet with former West Ham United goalkeeper Adrian San Miguel, according to the Times.

They report that the experienced 32-year-old is at the top of a list of goalkeeping candidates to replace the departing Belgian, who has moved back to his native country to join Club Brugge.

He made 150 appearances for the Hammers before leaving the London Stadium this summer, but will move to Anfield with the Reds beating competition from Real Valladolid for his signature.

Adrian will be firmly backup for Alisson, with his experience and professionalism likely to be assets to Jurgen Klopp as he looks to win the title this season.

Liverpool are yet to make a signing of any real consequence this summer and the arrival of Adrian has not sated the desire of many fans on Twitter.

They are not especially impressed with the Spaniard, who earned £50,000-a-week at the London Stadium last season according to Spotrac, and there are legitimate questions to be asked over how he would do under the intense pressure of the Premier League title race.

Of course, the same could be said for Claudio Bravo at Manchester City, but after a summer of stasis and a Community Shield defeat, some fans are not impressed with the link.
