Liverpool fans react to performance of Pedro Chirivella in FA Cup win
Liverpool’s youngster secured a place in the fifth round of the FA Cup by beating Shrewsbury Town 1-0 at Anfield.
The Reds fielded a young team with Jurgen Klopp and his first-team currently on their winter break.
A Ro-Shaun Williams own goal 15 minutes from time was enough for Neil Critchley’s youngsters – although they were made to work for it.
Shaun Whalley did have a goal overturned by VAR with the score goalless. Liverpool, however, prevailed in the end.
Nonetheless, it was a decent run out for the Reds and some will probably make the trip, with the first-team, at Chelsea in the next round.
One man who really stood out last night was Pedro Chirivella.
The Spaniard has been a regular for the Reds in the cup competitions this season and once again looked good.
Chirivella, 22, has now played in all three of Liverpool’s FA Cup games and also featured in the team’s three League Cup fixtures.
He is actually out of contract in the summer but his performances may have tempted Klopp into extending his stay.
Following last night’s display fans were quick to rave about him on Twitter.
They were amazed by another solid midfield display and took to social media to congratulate the maestro.
Here is a selection of tweets from Liverpool supporters in response to Chirivella:
