Liverpool saw their under-21 team bow out of the Papa John’s EFL Trophy last night following a 4-2 defeat to Port Vale. Liam Millar’s brace wasn’t enough to stop the League Two outfit going top of Group D.
It was certainly the performance of Millar which caught the eye on an otherwise disappointing night for the young Reds.
The 21-year-old took his goals extremely well against John Askey’s team but ultimately they did prove nothing more than consolation efforts.
Millar is progressing nicely at Liverpool and took his tally to four in all competitions for the 2020/21 campaign.

The Canadian has captained the Reds’ under-23 outfit during a 1-0 win over Arsenal this season, with head coach Barry Lewtas clearly happy with his progress.
Liverpool have a proud history when it comes to young players and Millar could be the next in a long line of talent to make the grade with the first-team.
Following last night’s game supporters were quick to discuss Millar and his performance on Twitter.
It’ll certainly be interesting to see how he progresses through the ranks at Liverpool in the coming months.
Here is a selection of Tweets from supporters after Millar’s display last night.
