Liverpool fans react to news that Thiago is likely to be on the bench tonight

Liverpool take on Southampton this evening and according to Goal, it seems as though Thiago Alcantara will start the game on the bench.

The Spaniard is fighting his way back to fitness following a frustrating time since his arrival from Bayern Munich.

Thiago has made just three appearances since checking in and came on as a substitute in the 0-0 draw with Newcastle.

Manchester United are level on points with Liverpool at the top of the Premier League and Jurgen Klopp’s team need a win.

The Reds have been robbed of several top players at various points of the current campaign.

Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez remain sidelined long-term, whilst Jordan Henderson, Sadio Mane and Alisson have all missed games this season.

Thiago has been another absentee for a long period and having him available could be like a new signing.

It looks as though he will be on the bench tonight though and Liverpool supporters have been reacting on Twitter.

Klopp’s team play Aston Villa in the FA Cup on Friday night but face a mouthwatering game with Manchester United next up in the Premier League.
