Liverpool have reportedly placed Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar on their wanted list for the January transfer window as a potential replacement for the injured Virgil van Dijk.

That is according to a report from ESPN, who claim the Slovakian is on a list of potential targets Liverpool could target in January.

The report claims that Jose Mourinho also remains keen on the player and would like him at Tottenham Hotspur.

Inter have reportedly set a €60 million (£54m) asking price on the player, so any deal would be quite expensive for the Reds.

So what do fans think of the apparent interest?

It would be fair to say that there has been a mixed reaction.

Many are wondering why Liverpool would make such a move when, in fairness, the club’s current alternatives have actually fared well in Van Dijk’s absence.

Rhys Williams looks to be a genuine talent whilst Fabinho has performed admirably when slotting in. Nathaniel Phillips did a fine job in the Premier League recently so some Liverpool fans just feel it would be a waste of money.

Others are more optimistic about the impact Skriniar might have at Anfield if he was to make the move.
