Liverpool fans react to Naby Keita suffering groin injury before Sheffield United clash

Naby Keita was due to start Liverpool’s game against Sheffield United last night but had to pull out after suffering a groin injury in the warm up.

The Reds won 2-0 thanks to goals from Mo Salah and Sadio Mane and after the match, tweeted a link to a brief update on his condition, with quotes from Jurgen Klopp on the injury.

Klopp told Liverpool’s official website: “I don’t know exactly what he has – it was the groin – but I can say already he will not be involved against Everton. That makes it 12 adult players we have [available], plus the kids, so that’s not cool, but we cannot change it.

“I have no clue how it happened, I think it was the last shot in the warm-up when he felt something. He came in [the dressing room] and was limping. Everybody who has played football has had this kind of injury and it’s not nice, it’s painful. I don’t know exactly what it is or how long it will take, but I can say already he will not be ready for Sunday.”

Liverpool fans took to Twitter after the match to wish Keita well with his latest injury setback. He has been unable to consistently show his best form during his season and a half at Anfield because of fitness issues.

They are all hoping it’s a minor problem and he is able to return to the pitch as soon as possible to help the Reds in pursuit of further trophies.

Liverpool have been hit by injuries over the festive period and Klopp could do with Keita back and firing as soon as possible – and the player himself deserves some luck.
