Zenit Saint Petersburg were beaten at home in the Champions League by Club Brugge last night but a moment of magic from Dejan Lovren caught the eye of Liverpool supporters.
Trailing 1-0 thanks to a goal by Emmanuel Dennis, the central defender took aim from 40 yards out, with his unstoppable effort going into the net via the post and the goalkeeper.
It was a tremendous strike worthy of a goal but ultimately it proved in vain as Lovren’s team crashed to a late defeat thanks to a goal by Charles De Ketelaere.

The Croatian defender left Anfield in the summer ending his six-year association with the Premier League champions.
He played 185 times for the Reds but fell down the pecking order last season with Jurgen Klopp preferring other players.
Ironically, Liverpool could perhaps do with the 60-cap defender in their ranks at the moment.
Virgil van Dijk is ruled out for several months with a knee injury, whilst Joel Matip is also set to miss the trip to Ajax in the Champions League tonight.
Following Lovren’s moment of magic, Liverpool fans were quick to discuss the former defender on Twitter.
Here is a selection of Tweets from Reds supporters on the Croatian.
