Liverpool fans react to Marko Grujic’s Champions League display

A number of Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to discuss Marko Grujic following his performance in the Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday.

It has not been an easy season for the 24-year-old. He seemed to be on the very periphery of Jurgen Klopp’s plans before joining Porto on loan near the start of the campaign.

Unfortunately, he has not tended to be a regular starter in Portugal. In fact, he is yet to play 90 minutes in the top flight this term. And he has not featured for more than 45 minutes since late January.

So his inclusion in the starting lineup for Wednesday’s clash with Chelsea presented a huge opportunity to the Serbia international.

And while the result was not ideal, it did appear that Grujic impressed plenty of Liverpool fans with his performance.

As shown by Whoscored, no player completed more dribbles than the midfielder. Meanwhile, he also won five aerial duels and three tackles.

It was not necessarily a show-stealing display from Grujic. However, it did prompt several Reds supporters to suggest that he should have a role to play at Anfield upon his return.

Some certainly believe that he is more than good enough to be a squad player, providing cover for the likes of Fabinho.

After the torrid season Liverpool have had injury-wise, it would be no surprise if Klopp was not ready to shut the door on any player on the club’s books ahead of the summer.

With that in mind, here is what some of the Liverpool fans were saying about Grujic following his Champions League display…
