A number of Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from the Daily Star over the weekend claiming that the Reds could rival Arsenal for Martin Odegaard this summer.

Odegaard appears to have put himself at the top of the Gunners’ shopping list after a superb run of form before the international break.

The Daily Star claimed that Mikel Arteta is hopeful that Arsenal find themselves in pole position to make Odegaard’s loan permanent.

However, there are potential hurdles to clear – and Liverpool may provide one.

The report suggested that the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and the Reds are all monitoring Odegaard ahead of the summer.

Meanwhile, it was claimed that Arsenal feared that his asking price will rise to £50 million.

It is arguably a surprise to see Jurgen Klopp’s side linked with a summer switch for Odegaard. But at the same time, it would make sense if the Reds were looking to strengthen their options in the middle of the park.

It has not been an easy season for the champions. And Odegaard has proved in the last few weeks that he certainly has the quality to make an impact in the Premier League.

The report has delighted a number of Liverpool fans on social media. Admittedly, some are sceptical of how likely it is that the Reds could consider a move for the Real Madrid man.

However, several clearly think that he would be an outstanding signing. The 22-year-old has been a household name since emerging as a 15-year-old. And there have been signs in the last couple of years that he is going to be one player who actually lives up to that early hype.

Plenty of Liverpool fans certainly believe that he could take his game to the next level if they can beat Arsenal to his signature…
