Liverpool fans react to Jarrod Bowen display in West Ham loss
A number of Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Jarrod Bowen after the West Ham star’s display in their defeat to Manchester United on Sunday.
The clash at the London Stadium proved to be an incredible battle. David Moyes’s side took the lead through Said Benrahma before they conceded an equaliser just five minute later.
It then appeared that a draw was on the cards as the score remained 1-1 until the 89th minute. However, Jesse Lingard came back to haunt his old side with a stunning strike.
But the drama was not done there. Luke Shaw gave away a penalty as he was penalised for a handball.
West Ham brought Mark Noble on simply to take the penalty. Unfortunately for the Irons, David De Gea saved the midfielder’s effort to ensure that the visitors left with the three points.
Of course, the decision to bring Noble on dominated the post-match debate. But for plenty of Liverpool fans, there was another player who really caught the eye.
It was reported by The Athletic over the summer that Jurgen Klopp is an admirer of Jarrod Bowen.
It was suggested that the 24-year-old was deemed to be an ideal signing to bolster their attacking ranks due to his versatility and age.
Jarrod Bowen catches the eye of Liverpool fans in West Ham loss
In fact, the report claimed Liverpool viewed Bowen as a player with massive potential.
West Ham reportedly insisted that they would not consider any moves for Bowen over the summer. And obviously, he ended up staying put at the London Stadium.
Like many of his teammates, the forward has made an outstanding start to the new campaign. He only has one assist so far. But he has been incredibly influential for Moyes’ men as they look to battle at home and in Europe.
His energy throughout Sunday’s clash with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men was, once again, superb. He worked incredibly hard as the Hammers looked to extend their unbeaten start to the new league campaign.
He is not yet the finished article. Bowen needs to improve his quality in front of goal.
But no West Ham player completed more dribbles than Bowen against the Red Devils (Whoscored). In fact, Paul Pogba was the only man on either side to better his tally of six.
He also topped the West Ham charts for key passes during the contest.
And his display certainly seemed to impress a number of Liverpool fans who watched the game.
Bowen is perhaps not a marquee name at this stage of his career. And it would appear that some Reds fans had their doubts about the club targeting the former Hull City man.
But many have suggested that he is actually exactly the kind of player that they would love to see at Anfield in the future.
‘Think he’s got something that Klopp could really tap into’
They are certain that he could really thrive and take his game to the next level working under Klopp.
With that in mind, here is what some of the Liverpool fans were saying about Bowen as West Ham took on Manchester United on Sunday…
