Liverpool fans react to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s performance against MK Dons

On a night where some youngsters shone for Liverpool, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain struggled to make the desired impact. Oxlade-Chamberlain started in midfield for Liverpool against MK Dons in the EFL Cup Third Round clash.

But he was outperformed by Curtis Jones, Ki-Jana Hoever, Harvey Elliott and others. Both Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita struggled to take control of the game against the League One side.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is still getting back to full fitness after spending most of last season out injured. Jurgen Klopp is giving him games here and there but last night was his chance to stake a first-team claim.

However, his performance did little to convince Klopp to give him a start this weekend. The 26-year-old should have had more influence on the game but most of Liverpool’s players performed better than him last night, although he did hit the post.

Liverpool fans were understandably disappointed with Oxlade-Chamberlain’s performance. They wanted to see the England midfielder get back to his best and start pushing Gini Wijnaldum, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho for more games in the Premier League.
