Liverpool fans react to Adam Lallana’s performance in Merseyside derby against Everton
Liverpool produced an excellent 5-2 win over struggling Everton at Anfield in the first Merseyside derby of the season – but Reds fans were unconvinced by Adam Lallana’s performance.
Lallana, 31, was handed just his seventh Premier League appearance of the season and only his second start for Jurgen Klopp’s side, as the German manager made changes following Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Brighton on the weekend.
Sadio Mane was the matchwinner, but it as Divock Origi who opened the scoring with a neat finish. Mane made the second, too, chopping the ball back for Xherdan Shaqiri to find the corner of the net. Michael Keane then bundled one home from a corner.

Liverpool made it three after a stunning pass from Dejan Lovren allowed Origi to chip Jordan Pickford. A stunning brace from Trent Alexander-Arnold saw him feed Mane, who swept home a left-footed effort. Richarlison made it 4-2 before the break.
Somehow, only one goal was scored in the second half, with Mane missing two glorious one-on-one chances. Eventually Gini Wijnaldum made it five with an exquisite finish late on. A very good win for Liverpool in a slightly feisty match.
Lallana, who is in the final year of his Liverpool contract since joining in 2014 for £25million (BBC), lasted 72 minutes as he played in a similar role to Roberto Firmino. Liverpool fans, though, were somewhat underwhelmed.
Lallana gave the ball away loads. Can’t do that playing with a high line. Regista isn’t his position.

Not convinced yet by the impact of Lallana. Seen no real engine in him or decent passing.
Definitely the others. Not sure why he doesn't play Shaq more. Salah certainly needs the break on smaller matches. He's clearly suffering (not including the injury)— Mick (@MICKDXB) December 5, 2019
That's why Lallana hasn't been offered a contract extension.
He walks this summer.— Mohamed M. (@Nino_nworB) December 5, 2019
Adam Lallana did a Cruyff turn and then fell over. At least some things never change.
