Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana has attracted criticism for his performance last night.
In the Club World Cup in Qatar, Liverpool sneaked past Monterrey in the semi-final. The Reds have set up a final with Brazilian side Flamengo after Roberto Firmino’s late winner.
Injuries have restricted Jurgen Klopp’s options for this game. He wanted to rest and rotate his players but some first-teamers like Fabinho, Virgil Van Dijk, Joel Matip and Gini Wijnaldum were missing through injury and illness.
Lallana in experimental midfield
This forced Klopp to select Jordan Henderson in central defence. Naturally, the midfield trio was also much-changed. Without Henderson, Wijnaldum or Fabinho in the midfield, Liverpool had to rely on three others.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and Lallana lined up against Monterrey. But Lallana, in particular, attracted criticism for his performance. The exit-linked midfielder struggled to assert his authority on the game.
With Takumi Minamino now confirmed, there is a feeling that Lallana might not stick around at Anfield. Here are some tweets discussing his performance last night.

I’m no football expert but it appears Xherdan Shaqiri and Adam Lallana are completely useless on the pitch

I’d rather watch paint dry than Adam Lallana playing football?
