Liverpool fans react on Twitter to Thiago Alcantara’s cameo

A number of Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Thiago Alcantara’s performance as the Reds had to settle for a goalless draw away at Newcastle on Wednesday.

It proved to be a frustrating evening for Jurgen Klopp’s men. They were wasteful in front of goal. And when they did find the target, Karl Darlow was able to produce some outstanding saves.

It certainly was not a pleasant watch for supporters. A number of players were criticised for underwhelming displays. And only a few seemed to emerge from the game with any credit.

One of those who did receive some praise was Thiago. The summer signing was introduced with 17 minutes of the game remaining having been sidelined with injury since the Merseyside derby.

But despite only being on the pitch for a short period, he still managed to produce the kind of cameo that the fans were crying out for.

His distribution gave off the impression that he had never been away. Some of his long-range passing was an absolute joy to behold.

And one of those sweeping diagonal passes nearly led to the deadlock being broken. Ultimately, Darlow managed to deny Sadio Mane before Newcastle’s defence produced an amazing clearance.

It was not to be for Liverpool on Wednesday. But plenty of fans felt that Thiago’s performance after coming off the bench provided a real shining light.
