Liverpool fans react on Twitter to Klopp’s Joel Matip update

A number of Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to comment after Jurgen Klopp provided what appears to be a concerning update on Joel Matip, as reported by the Daily Mirror.

Matip has not played since the Reds’ 1-1 draw with Manchester United in October. The Daily Mirror reports that he was expected to return from his knee injury shortly after the international break.

However, it appears that there is now a big question mark hanging over when he may come back. Klopp confirmed ahead of this week’s clash with Napoli that Matip is preparing for another scan.

“This week we have kind of a reassessment scan where you have a look at how it improved,” he said, as reported by the Daily Mirror.

“But there’s nothing you can really do a lot. You have to wait until the body is doing the job pretty much.

“And we will see that, then we’ll know more. He looks fine but is not able to play and not able to train at the moment.”

The news has, unsurprisingly, left a lot of Liverpool supporters feeling extremely disappointed. And they are worried as Klopp’s comments seem to somewhat vague at this stage.

Plenty of fans are concerned that he is set to be sidelined for much longer than initially expected. And that would be a massive blow for the Reds as they prepare for a hectic Christmas period.

Matip has been outstanding for some time. And while the Reds have not dropped a point in his absence, they have not kept a clean sheet either.

But it is not just the coming weeks that fans are slightly concerned about, as they also appear to be worried about Matip’s future at the club.

He proved a lot of doubters wrong last season by avoiding injury. But some have now started to wonder whether he may have taken a step backwards and now faces having to prove himself all over again.
