Liverpool fans react on Twitter to Joel Matip injury reports
A number of Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from the London Evening Standard suggesting that Joel Matip is expected to be out for up to six weeks.
Matip has endured a frustrating time with injury. His most recent appearance for the Reds came in the 1-1 draw with Manchester United, with the defender also missing the two games prior to the trip to Old Trafford.

The London Evening Standard reports that Jurgen Klopp had been hopeful last week that the 32-year-old would only miss another couple of weeks. However, it appears that his knee injury is more serious.

According to the London Evening Standard, Matip could be out for up to six weeks. That could rule him out of 10 games, including three Champions League ties, the Merseyside derby and Manchester City’s visit to Anfield.

The reports have, understandably, left a number of Liverpool fans feeling extremely concerned. Matip has been outstanding alongside Virgil van Dijk. And the supporters are worried.
Dejan Lovren has made a significant improvement in more recent times. But some fans are concerned that the Croatian making a costly mistake is almost inevitable given how long Matip will be missing for.
Some have asked for Joe Gomez to get another chance. The youngster was also hugely impressive alongside van Dijk, and some supporters want to see their partnership given another shot.
Here is how some of the fans reacted to the latest reports on Matip…

We’re gonna miss Matip a lot. He’s been outstanding, his recovery with his longs legs is brilliant. But we won’t get that with Gomez

Gotta feel for big Joel matip. Firmly made that spot his own. Time to get behind lovren who was playing Sunday, arguably the best we’ve looked this season. Joe Gomez isn’t a bad one to have up the sleeve too. ?? #support

It’s a damn shame that Joel Matip is actually a bit too injury prone. I feel for him. Especially considering the new level he has reached.

Joel Matip out for six weeks? Awful. We really need Joe Gomez to take this as an opportunity to reclaim his starting place and make that position his own.
