Every Liverpool player appears to be on the cusp of securing legendary status at Anfield with Jurgen Klopp’s side closing in on the Premier League title.
But one member of the Reds squad has certainly enhanced his cult hero status amongst the Kop with a superb gesture ahead of the club’s FA Cup replay with Shrewsbury on Tuesday night.
Liverpool booked their place in the next round with Neil Critchley and his youngsters beating the League One side 1-0 at Anfield.
Understandably, a number of those players are receiving huge plaudits following the win. But a member of the squad not involved in the game has also been lauded by the fans on social media.
James Milner was sat in the stands for the game. And Critchley suggested after the win, in comments reported by the Liverpool Echo, that the 34-year-old had been incredibly influential in the build-up to the tie.
He trained with the youngsters and asked to come into the dressing room ahead of the game. And that has left a number of Liverpool fans heaping praise on Milner.
Some have suggested that he is arguably the best free signing of all-time, while others have insisted that he will be remembered as a club legend.
There are also some who believe that Milner has to be kept on once his playing days come to an end.
Some are convinced that he has a future in coaching or management. And they believe that he could be the perfect player for some of the club’s youngsters to learn from in the future.
