Liverpool fans react on Twitter to Curtis Jones’s display against Manchester City

A number of Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Curtis Jones’s display as the Reds faced Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday.

Jones started alongside Thiago and Gini Wijnaldum in the midfield three. And he stayed on until the midway point in the second-half when he was replaced by James Milner.

It appeared however, that many Liverpool supporters could not understand the decision to replace Jones.

As shown by Whoscored.com, he made four interceptions – which was more than anyone else while he was on the pitch. He also made 48 accurate passes from an attempted 52.

Jones came agonisingly close to scoring during the second-half as well. His effort slid just by the post after taking the slightest of deflections.

Unfortunately, it proved to be another disappointing occasion for Jurgen Klopp’s men. Two major mistakes from Alisson Becker allowed the visitors to secure the three points.

Of course, Jones still being on the pitch may not have prevented the defeat from happening. But many felt that taking him off was a big mistake.

Several have insisted on social media that he was the Reds’ best player before his departure from the stage. And thus, there is a lot of criticism coming Klopp’s way for replacing him at a crucial moment in the game.
